Training
Enhanced Advocacy for Clients involved in the Child Welfare System
Domestic violence advocates are important allies for child welfare in their mission to keep families safe. We support opportunities for cross-training and dialogue and recommend that domestic violence advocates be included in child welfare trainings whenever possible in order to build relationships and increase collaboration.
This training will provide information about the Safe and Together model and its application to the intersection of domestic violence and child welfare. The training will review the key components of the Safe and Together model and its application to child welfare interventions with domestic violence survivors and their children. The participants will have an opportunity to explore how to utilize the model to enhance their advocacy for child welfare involved clients. This training also encourages cross system collaboration between domestic violence advocates and child welfare workers.
Target Audience: This training is intended for domestic violence advocates and counselors, community educators, child advocates and domestic violence agency supervisors and managers in the community where child welfare is being trained in the Safe and Together model.
