Information Cards for Parents When Domestic Violence is Suspected or Present

Frequently, child protection workers or other child serving professionals suspect that domestic violence is present or need to educate parents about the potential impact on a child of being exposed to batterer's behaviors. As part of Children and Batterer Accountability Initiative, child protection workers requested, and NoVA developed, a practical solution to the need to provide parents with information about the potential link between their children's behavior and their exposure to batterer's behavior. These information cards, which workers leave with both parents, provide a simple way to give parents information about the connection between the exposure to batterer's behavior, some of the more common symptoms children's experience as result of that exposure, and local resources for domestic violence victims and perpetrators.
