About The Non-Violence AllianceThe Non-Violence Alliance is a national leader in the field of batterer accountability and change. With roots in the domestic violence movement reaching back over twenty years, the Non-Violence Alliance provides expert consultation to private and governmental agencies on intervening effectively with batterers. These services include training, clinical supervision, program development, and conference presentations. In Connecticut, we offer counseling for mandated and voluntary batterers. In recent years our work has focused on batterers as fathers, child protection interventions, community prevention efforts, developing train-the-trainer material and identifying batterers in medical settings. The Non-Violence Alliance has produced various curricula, including Dedication (a forty hour training curriculum for batterer intervention facilitators), Approaches and Practices for Working with Batterers (a program manual for working with batterers) and Being Connected (a curriculum for working with fathers). The Non-Violence Alliance has also pioneered research into batterers as fathers with an international study of batterer's perceptions of their children's exposure to their violence and abuse. Current research projects include improvements to child protection protocols, the impact of batterer intervention program on inmates released into the community, and the efficacy of medical personnel screening for the perpetration of domestic violence. The Non-Violence Alliance has presented at numerous conferences around the United States and abroad. Our consulting and training clients have included the District of Columbia, the Texas Council of Family Violence, the State of Connecticut, the Santa Clara County domestic violence taskforce and the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges.
